Senior Pastor Steve Koberlein

If you were to ask him, Pastor Steve Koberlein would say that his only qualification for serving as the Senior Pastor of Lawrence Heights Christian Church is the fact that he is a terrible sinner saved by grace. Called into ministry as a teenager, Steve spent the better part of 20 years wrestling with God before obediently surrendering his life fully to service to the Lord. Today, he is blessed to be able to couple his love for the Lord with his love for people.

Steve’s ministry began right here at LHCC in August of 2004. As the Associate Pastor, Steve sought to facilitate spiritual growth and to equip members for service. To do so, he worked to create opportunities for members to be able to connect relationally with each other through small groups and accountability. Then, in turn, these “community groups” are inspired and mobilized to become active, moving parts of the body of Christ in effective service and evangelism.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Art’s degree in Psychology in 1989 at Ottawa University in nearby Ottawa, Kansas. In addition to serving the church, Steve worked in collegiate education for 17 years. After being ordained as a minister of the Gospel in July of 2005, he became our Senior Pastor in June of 2007.

The Lord has also blessed Pastor Steve with his lovely wife, Kelli; three beautiful daughters, Stephanie, Taylor, and Katie; as well as a feisty, red-headed son named Walker.
