Dean Warner, Maintenance

Dean and Vern Warner have been blessed by over 40 years of marriage, 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

They've attended Lawrence Heights Christian Church for 37 years and have served our church family in so many different ways. From an Eldership role to volunteering for many years as Youth Group leaders, their service to the Lord here at Lawrence Heights has been a huge blessing from God. In the passage below, Dean shares his testimony of the change in his life because of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior:

I began my walk with the Lord at age 14, I was baptized because the Minister at the little Baptist church I grew up in said I should be. Of course, I was a believer. I knew Jesus is the Son of God and the only way out of this world. A few years later, after many ups and downs, something didn't seem right. Every time I would hear an alter call my hands would begin to sweat and I would be gripping the pew. After I met my wonderful wife, we both decided we needed to rededicate our lives and ask God for forgiveness. We did just that. At a revival meeting, here at this very church at about age 30, we were baptized again. The pews have been free of my sweaty hands ever since.

I had a chance to become the maintenance man here at Lawrence Heights Christian Church. I already had a part-time job and kept turning down the job here at the church. My wife kept telling me I should take the job. Finally, one day, on my way to Ottawa to deliver a message to my mother, I got a strong urge to take the maintenance job. The urge was so strong I thought about turning around and going back for fear the job would not be there when I got back. When I returned, I went straight to the church and I was hired. Wow! What an awesome God! What an awesome urging! I have enjoyed this job for 5 years now. - Dean Warner
