Associate Pastor Barry Watts

Barry’s path to Lawrence, Kansas has been one of adventure and trials. Living in many different areas including: Dallas, Texas; Stavanger, Norway; Searcy, Arkansas; Mount Dora, Florida; and finally Eudora, Kansas.

From 1994 to 1999, Barry attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. This is a Christian university, where Barry was spiritually fed and the ground work was laid for his future ministry. In December of 1995, he met the young lady that would become his bride in 1999. Megan is a kindergarten teacher in Wellsville, Kansas, spreading the love of Christ to all the children she comes in contact with.

Barry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration: Financial Management in 2000 at Florida Southern College, located in Orlando, Florida. Although this career path could have led to lucrative financial gains, God had another plan for Barry. Unfortunately, it took God beating Barry over the head for him to realize it. Barry entered ministry in 1999 as the Youth Minister for North Lake Church of Christ in Mount Dora, Florida. For over three years, he and his wife were blessed in their work with the youth. Feeling like they needed to be closer to family, Barry and Megan moved to Eudora, Kansas in 2003, postponing their ministry.

Over the next 4 years, Barry would battle his call to ministry to pursue a ‘secular’ job. Sunflower Homes by Barry Watts, building residential homes through general contracting, was the business venture that he began and pursued. After 3 years of relative success, the real estate market downturn of 2007 left his business in ruins. God had another plan for Barry.

Barry and Megan had been attending Lawrence Heights Christian found themselves serving in various capacities. Through a series of God-authored events, Barry would become the Associate / Student Ministry Pastor in July of 2007. Finally, the strong-willed Barry had answered the call of the Lord.

Barry and his wife Megan, the love of his life, have been blessed with a child, Isaac Daniel Watts, who arrived in June of 2008.  After being “parents” of so many children and youth, finally they will begin their family together. It’s been a long road, but God’s timing is perfect.

What are Barry’s duties here at Lawrence Heights Christian Church?
His ministry includes children of all ages, nursery to high school. Other areas of responsibility are: internet ministry, preaching at times, teaching adult Bible classes, overseeing various Ministry Team Leaders, and supporting the Senior Pastor.
